| | Spring break is over, and this saddens me. I guess I shouldn't complain - 7 more weeks of class and I am done with classes forever! Well...until grad school. Whenever that decides to happen. I am still trying to make up my mind on whether or not I am excited about student teaching in the fall. I am looking forward to graduation! Spring break was pretty great. I spent the first weekend at home with my family, which is always fun and refreshing. My sister moved into a house about 10 minutes away from my parents a few months ago, so I ended up staying with her for the first few nights. Mostly just relaxed...it had been an insane couple of weeks. On Monday I drove to Destin to meet up with Anna and her friend Sarah. We camped on the beach for 4 days, which was much much fun. 6 hour drives by yourself, however, are no fun. I know people have done much longer, but it was too long for me. I fall asleep...really. Camping was chilly - it was cooler than it has been in West Palm, and was in the 40's our first night. And...we had no campfire, because you have to buy wood from the camp store (which closed at 3), or get it from outside the park (and as of March, every store gets rid of it's firewood supply). So...no fire. But we were able to get some for free (due to my expert powers of persuasion...) the next day, which lasted us the rest of the trip! The beach was pretty amazingly beautiful - more so than in West Palm. And due to the cooler temperature, we kind of neglected to put sunscreen on at first...resulting in nice toasty burns for the three of us completely down our backs. And that's always fun. Overall though, so much fun. It was so great to hang out with Anna, and the three of us all got along really well. The end of Spring break was once again spent at home - this time mostly by myself as my parents are now in Thailand, Australia, the Phillipines, and Papua New Guinea for the next month. It was nice though - I watched some movies, did laundry, thought about washing my car, and slept a lot (not a lot of sleeping happened during camping). On Saturday morning I had an early breakfast with my sister and about 20 of her friends/co-workers. We then went to Travel Country, which has a huge sale twice a year, with much of their stuff up to 80% off. They have packbacks, sleeping bags, tents, jackets, all kinds of goodies. Really expensive stuff though. We got there an hour early because apparently people literally kill eachother running into the store when it opens. It was fairly intense...but Rachel and I both got really nice, expensive jackets (I got a Marmot jacket for $50, down from $250 - I was pretty stoked), and she got a nice packback as well. It was pretty cool - I'll definatly plan to go to their next sale if I'm in town. Here's a few pics from the trip - Anna took dozen's more, I'm sure they'll be on facebook soon. The height differences between us were slightly ridiculous - Sarah is 4'11", Anna 5'3", and I'm almost 6'. So yeah...taking pictures of the three of us was somewhat challenging Might I point out that you can't even see my feet in these photos!
I need prayer for some serious focus and motivation. I'm losing the battle with my school work these days - I need to kick it up a notch. Just 7 more weeks! Cheers dears. |
